The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's crypto task force will convene on October 18 to discuss financial surveillance and privacy. Commissioner Hester Peirce emphasized the critical importance of privacy-protecting technologies, allowing individuals control over their sensitive information.
Peirce's remarks follow heightened scrutiny of privacy tools like Tornado Cash, yet she remains a staunch defender of such technologies. "We must protect the ability to transfer value privately, just as physical coins once allowed," she stated at the Science of Blockchain conference.
The roundtable aims to inform SEC policy as regulators grapple with balancing innovation and oversight in the crypto space.
